Tehran visa waiting lists reopen — but no appointments yet

Registration reopened on 15 July 2026 — and the embassy explicitly warns against applying in a neighbouring country.

Affects
Iranian applicants for German national visas

The German Embassy in Tehran is still operating in emergency mode. The visa section remains closed to regular visitors and no regular visa appointments are being issued. Since 15 July 2026 applicants can register again on new TLScontact waiting lists, including for national visas covering study, employment, researchers and doctors, but the embassy says it cannot predict when appointments will be issued from those lists.

Priority goes to people already on the old waiting list as at 18 January 2026, and appointments currently go mainly to holders of a Vorabzustimmung under the accelerated skilled-worker procedure whose appointment was cancelled from 16 January 2026. Family-reunification applicants are contacted by IOM and interviewed in Istanbul by invitation only. The embassy explicitly warns Iranian applicants not to travel to neighbouring countries to apply, stating that other missions have no jurisdiction and will reject such applications.
