The Home Affairs Legislation Amendment (2026 Measures No. 1) Regulations 2026, registered 30 June 2026, raised visa application charges and reset the skilled income threshold for applications lodged on or after 1 July 2026. The base application charge is AUD 6,135 for the subclass 189 Skilled Independent points-tested stream, AUD 6,140 for the subclass 190 Skilled Nominated visa, AUD 6,140 for the subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional visa, and AUD 4,015 for the subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa.
For the 190 and 491, the additional applicant charge is AUD 3,070 for a person aged 18 or over and AUD 1,535 for a person under 18. The regulations also write the temporary skilled migration income threshold into the rules at AUD 79,423, applying to nomination applications made on or after 1 July 2026, with the first indexation day set at 1 July 2027. Reduced charges apply to passport holders of the Pacific countries listed in the instrument; Iran is not on that list.
